Doteasy, founded in 2000, is a web hosting provider based out of Vancouver, Canada. They aim to provide their customers (500,000 so far and counting!) with reliable, affordable, banner-free web hosting services. Doteasy also offers domain registration services and website building tools.

Hosting Options from Doteasy

Doteasy offers several types of hosting packages, including cloud-based options.

The Shared & SSD Hosting packages are great starter packages that include everything you need to design your website and build your online presence. The package includes the one-click script install functionality (useful for installing things like an entire content management system, such as WordPress, to manage your site content), a drag-and-drop site builder to get you front-end up, a domain name, and email capability. They offer three shared hosting plans to choose from with a range of emails, websites, disk space, and bandwidth allocation.

If your business or blogs needs more than what’s offered with the shared plans, consider purchasing one of the Business Hosting options. These options are a better fit ecommerce or social sites, document archives, business listings, or blogs that serve up a large number of high-resolution images or videos.

For those who need even more from the hosting plan or are resellers, Doteasy offers Cloud Server/Reseller Hosting packages. Cloud packages are fully managed solutions, which means that the Doteasy team takes care of file migration, setup of your virtual machine and configuration, day-to-day management, and monitoring. To manage your server yourself, you can use the included cPanel.

If you’re a reseller, you’ll be interested in the fact that Doteasy offers unlimited domain support, sub-domains, MySQL databases, FTP and email accounts, as well as a cPanel/WHM to make server and account management easy.

The cloud-based plans are similar to what other providers typically call their VPS hosting plans. There are three different plans from which you can choose, each with a different allocation of CPI cores, RAM, disk storage space, public IP addresses, and bandwidth.

Add-Ons and Other Services

In addition to their web hosting packages, Doteasy offers the following add-ons and services that you can add to your hosting package purchase.

Domain-related services include registration, transfer, domain privacy protection, which masks your identifying details in the publicly-available WHOIS database, and domain locking, which causes any attempt for an unauthorized party to transfer your domain to another provider to fail.

Doteasy offers multiple options when it comes to building your site’s front-end. Purchasing any hosting package from Doteasy gets you free access to’s drag-and-drop site building tool. For those with some familiarity with CSS, you can use and customize Doteasy’s free CSS templates.

If you’d like to use a content management system, Doteasy provides abundant support for WordPress. Doteasy also offers many WordPress themes and plugins free of charge to its subscribers.

If you’re looking to outsource the project completely, Doteasy offers web design services, where its team will create a fully custom site design to fit your needs. The standard web design package gets you a five-page website that includes two apps (such as a photo gallery, blog, maps, webforms, or ecommerce), and access to stock images.

If you purchase a shared or a business hosting plan, you can addon what Doteasy calls Managed Hosting. Contrary to what its name implies, this is not a hosting plan, but a set of services for customers who need extra help maintaining their website. The Doteasy team will help you with things that normally fall outside the scope of support, including the installation and upgrade of open source apps, such as WordPress or Joomla, updating your HTML, setup of your Doteasy tools, database optimization, site backups, email archiving, script debugging, and data migration.

To turn your site into a fully-fledged online store, you can purchase Doteasy Commerce, which is an all-in-one shopping cart system and site builder. You get full customization of your storefront using the site builder, inventory management, marketing tools, shipping integration and cost calculators, and support for over twenty types of payment gateways. Your ecommerce site is also search-engine friendly, and you get direct control over its meta tags and robots.txt files.

To help you communicate with your customers, the Doteasy Commerce package includes basic email marketing features. This includes automated follow-up to all purchases, mailing list management, newsletter functionality, and product update notifications.

The Email Protection System is a rule-based, enterprise-level anti-spam system that allows each of your users to set their level of spam control.

If your package doesn’t include automatic site backups, you can also purchase this service as an add-on to your hosting plan.

All in all, the add-ons will allow you to build exactly what you need without paying for extra services you don’t.

Support and Customer Service

The technical support team is available Monday through Friday, from 6 AM to 6 PM (UTC-8). You can get in touch via telephone (or submit a callback request) or live chat. You can also email the team with your questions or open up a service request ticket. Doteasy will respond to your inquiry within 48 hours.

Doteasy also offers a community forum where you can crowdsource answers to your questions, as well as an in-depth knowledge base, tutorials, and getting-started guides.

If you need assistance with things that are typically outside the scope of support, such as making changes to your HTML to display your business’ new logo, you can also purchase consulting hours and receive assistance from a Doteasy staff member.

Pricing, Guarantees, and Refunds

All Doteasy hosting packages require upfront payment for one, two, or five years of service. They do offer discounts for those who opt for the two- or five-year contracts — the longer your contract, the cheaper your month-to-month costs will be. Note that your contract will be for a promotional price; when your initial contract expires and renews, the cost you’ll pay goes up to the standard rate.

If you’re unsatisfied, take advantage of the 30-day money back guarantee and receive a refund of all fees you paid, less any setup or one-time service charges. If you received a free domain as part of your package, the fees for the domain will be deducted from your refund.

They do not make any uptime guarantees, nor do they have any service level agreements (SLA) in place, which might be an issue for some bloggers.

Doteasy is one of the most established web hosting providers out there, and it has stood the test of time by providing reliable, banner-free services at affordable rates. Their packages range from simple, shared packages to powerful cloud-based solutions, so you’re likely to find an option that meets your needs.

The only exception might be large enterprise-level corporations — dedicated hosting might be the best option for these entities, which isn’t something offered by Doteasy.
